Maryland Casinos Generate $136.6 Million in Revenue During February


Casino revenue increases 6.1% year over year

(BALTIMORE) – Maryland Lottery and Gaming today announced February 2018 revenue numbers for the state’s six casinos: MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County; Live! Casino in Anne Arundel County; Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City; Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County; Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County; and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County.

Maryland’s casinos totaled $136,571,280 in revenue during February 2018. The total was an increase of $7,857,837, or 6.1%, compared to the February 2017 figure of $128,713,443. February 2018 marked the second full month in which it was possible to make a direct year-over-year comparison including all six of the state’s casinos. MGM National Harbor opened on December 8, 2016. January 2018 revenues were up 1.2% year over year.

MGM National Harbor totaled $53,112,941 from both slot machines and table games in February. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day in February at MGM National Harbor was: $375.18 for slot machines, $6,116.80 for banked table games and $1,560.90 for non-banked table games. February 2018 revenue at MGM National Harbor increased by $7,343,871, or 16.0%, from February 2017. MGM National Harbor operates 2,706 slot machines and 173 (134 banked and 39 non-banked) table games.

Live! Casino totaled $46,992,205 from both slot machines and table games in February. Live! Casino’s gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $282.40 for slot machines, $4,026.72 for banked table games and $919.77 for non-banked table games. February 2018 revenue at Live! Casino increased by $700,914, or 1.5%, from February 2017. Live! Casino operates 3,835 slot machines and 186 (136 banked and 50 non-banked) table games.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore totaled $21,439,974 from both slot machines and table games in February. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $204.33 for slot machines, $1,931.35 for banked table games and $848.53 for non-banked table games. Horseshoe Casino’s February 2018 revenue decreased by $591,169, or 2.7%, from February 2017. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore operates 2,202 slot machines and 175 (154 banked and 21 non-banked) table games.

Hollywood Casino Perryville totaled $5,882,162 from both slot machines and table games in February. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $221.56 for slot machines, $1,867.69 for banked table games and $456.23 for non-banked table games. Hollywood Casino’s February 2018 revenue decreased by $328,662, or 5.3%, from February 2017. Hollywood Casino Perryville operates 822 slot machines and 21 (13 banked and 8 non-banked) table games.

Ocean Downs Casino totaled $4,952,837 from slot machines and table games in February. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $180.58 for slot machines and $1,573.57 for banked table games. Ocean Downs Casino’s February 2018 revenue increased by $906,647, or 22.4%, from February 2017. Ocean Downs Casino operates 891 slot machines and 10 banked table games. The first table games at Ocean Downs Casino were introduced in December 2017. Ocean Downs Casino does not have non-banked table games.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort generated $4,191,161 from both slot machines and table games in February. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $196.43 for slot machines and $1,107.32 for banked table games. Rocky Gap Casino Resort’s February 2018 revenue decreased by $173,764, or 4.0%, from February 2017. Rocky Gap Casino Resort operates 665 slot machines and 17 banked table games. Rocky Gap Casino Resort does not have non-banked table games.

Under Maryland law, casino revenue supports the Maryland Education Trust Fund, local impact grants, local jurisdictions, the state’s horse racing industry and the Maryland General Fund.
