Video Lottery Facility Location Commission to Conduct Site Visit and Public Hearing on Anne Arundel County Slots Proposal September 9

Maryland’s Video Lottery Facility Location Commission will conduct a site visit and public hearing for the Anne Arundel County facility operation license proposal on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Commission announced today. This will be the Commission’s final site visit and public hearing for the four sites proposed for video lottery terminal operation licenses in Maryland, as visits to proposed sites in Baltimore City, Cecil County, and Worcester County were conducted earlier this summer.

“The purpose of each of the site visits and public hearings is for the Commissioners to get a sense of the size and scope of the proposed facilities,” said Commission Chairman Donald C. Fry. “In Anne Arundel County, the Commissioners will be particularly interested in seeing and hearing how the proposed facility would interact with the existing Arundel Mills Mall infrastructure.”

On September 9, the Commission’s schedule will be as follows:
3:30 p.m. – Tour of the proposed facility location
(Meet at the entrance to the Arundel Mills Mall food court, 7000 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover, MD.)
4:30 p.m. – Commission meeting
5:00 p.m. – Applicant presentation
6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – Public hearing

The Commission meeting, applicant presentation, and public hearing will be held at the UMUC Dorsey Station Center (6865 Deerpath Road, Elkridge, MD.).

Individuals interested in speaking to the Commission are encouraged to sign up to testify before the hearing by calling Maureen Merzlak of the Department of Legislative Services at 410-946-5530 or 301-970-5530. Witness sign-up sheets will also be available at the hearing location by 4:30 p.m. the day of the hearing.
